Return of the in-person BID3 user forum for the autumn 2022 edition

The whole world is buzzing about meeting in the Metaverse, but until our own BID3verse is up and running, we are thrilled to welcome the BID3 community to our Oxford premises!

We have been busy planning the first physical user forum since Frankfurt in winter 2020. The forum will take place on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 September. It will be a great chance to reconnect with the people behind BID3 after a long while of virtual contact and introduce the new faces from both sides.

A schedule full of knowledge-sharing presentations that showcase recent BID3 use cases has been put together, allowing us all to interact and exchange ideas, as well as discuss current and future BID3 development work.

Some of the topics planned for the user forum include:

  • Long duration storage assessment with integrated electricity and hydrogen modelling utilising BID3’s co-product functionality: results from BEIS-AFRY Report.
  • Using BID3 to evaluate the value of storage in the Irish market considering impacts on both the Day Ahead and Balancing Markets: results of AFRY / IESA.
  • Hydro systems using BID3: data extraction, modelling and presentation of results for the electricity market in Brazil.
  • System Adequacy modelling using the BID3 LOLE module: presentation of study commissioned by National Grid ESO into the future reliability of the British system.
  • Walkthroughs on how we create profiles, linking BID3 with Python, using core manager and other lesser-known features.

Not to forget, we'll host a guided tour of historically and culturally rich Oxford on Thursday evening, and though we'll try to minimise the number of Harry Potter, Inspector Morse and His Dark Materials references... we can’t wait to meet everyone here!
